Studio Wildcard has officially revealed the next update for ARK: Survival Evolved. Update v247 for the game adds two new creatures to the game in the form of Tapejara and Archaeopteryx, which are two new small, flying creatures. A new gameplay video was also released showcasing the update. You can check out that video at this link. The update is free for gamers on Steam PC. Additionally, Update v247 adds some new features such as Night Vision Goggles, plus new performance optimizations and gameplay fixes. The Center fantasy map has also been expanded for the game, so that it now has 13 new mini caves, along with a new explorable area that's closed to the Edge of the World. New penguin spawns, fixes, a re-worked weather system and more have also been worked in. The Center was a creation by game modder Ben Burkart and is meant to have a Tolkien-esque aesthetic. The DLC adds more than double for the in-game playable geography for ARK, making it 70 square kilometers, with new lighting effects, lava rivers, giant picturesque mountains, misty floating islands, ancient underground ice caves, and more. For the Archaeopteryx, it's is a small bird-like forest-dweller that glides between trees. It harvests tree sap and eats small insects. When Tamed, it can be used to collect sap, or held overhead for players to “glide†over long distances. For the Tapejara, it's a creature with excellent maneuverability for military excursions. The creature is a mid-size pterosaur that has a big head-fin for superior maneuverability. The Tapejara can ‘strafe’ while in the air and cling onto walls. This allows the rider and up to two additional seated passengers to shoot their weapons on the Tapejara. ARK: Survival Evolved is available for the Steam through the Steam Early Access Program and the Xbox One via the Game Preview. The game is scheduled for a full release on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with VR support.
